Resources to Thrive with Metastatic Breast Cancer

Every year on October 13, we pause to raise awareness for those living with Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC), or stage IV breast cancer.

Nearly 30% of women with early-stage breast cancer develop metastatic disease.

MBC occurs when cancer spreads beyond the breast to other parts of the body. It requires ongoing treatment and care, but new advances are helping people live longer, fuller, and more meaningful lives with the disease.

It’s estimated that nearly 30% of women diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer will eventually develop metastatic disease, and about 10% are diagnosed at stage IV from the start.

Last week I saw that Breastcancer.org has partnered with the Tigerlily Foundation to create a collection of online resources, guidance, and personal stories for those impacted by MBC.

One reminder that stands out:

MBC is a marathon, not a sprint. When you’re living with MBC, your mental health is just as important as your physical health. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, know that support is available.
