A Mentor for the Moment: Shining a Light for Others

Stand in your light and shine brightly because that is how you defeat darkness.
— LESLIE ESPERANZA ESPAILLAT

When I read that quote, it immediately resonated with me.

Every person has something unique—a trait, a perspective, or a strength—that makes them shine. It’s what sets us apart, but also what draws others toward us.

Some might call it a strength. Others might call it a superpower.

For me, that superpower has always been my ability to lead, teach, and bring clarity to complicated things. Whether it’s guiding a team through something complex or mentoring someone as they work toward their goals, I find meaning in helping others see the path forward.

When I took the CliftonStrengths assessment a few years ago, which I mentioned in another recent post, one insight about my “Developer” strength stood out to me:

“To fulfill this inner drive while maintaining a primary mentoring focus, consider the impact of being a mentor for the moment.”

Standing in My Light

The phrase “mentor for the moment” perfectly captures why I launched this website; a space to share real, bite-size stories of hope and reflection for anyone navigating cancer or other storms.

My goal is to use what I’ve learned, both as a survivor and as a lifelong learner, to help others see that light still exists, even in the darkest times.

This blog is my way of standing in my own light, and hopefully helping others find theirs. 💫
