How the Smallest Form of Support Made the Biggest Difference
I never would have guessed that one of my favorite forms of support during breast cancer treatment would be so simple, and cost almost nothing.
It was a text.
As a retired nurse, my Aunt Beth knew how important encouragement would be for me. It started as a couple random texts and GIFs from her over a couple days.
But she didn’t let up.
For more than 5 months, during treatment and surgery recovery, she sent me dozens of texts that always included 3 simple words:
“Thinking of you...”
The GIFs she included made me smile. The messages made me feel loved. And seeing them show up again and again gave me little boosts of hope when I needed it most.
She even sent a rainbow image after treatment with the text: “You have made it through the storm; your rainbow you so deserve it.” 🌈
One text might not seem like much.
But small gestures, repeated over time, can become something much bigger and more meaningful.
They were constant reminders that I wasn't alone.
They were proof that someone cared, and was constantly cheering me on.
Never underestimate the power of a simple text, or the impact of showing up again and again. 🤗
