Why Sun Safety is a Must for Survivors

As a breast cancer survivor, my journey didn’t end when treatment did. Survivorship means continued strength, and continued vigilance.

One reality many survivors face is an increased risk of second primary cancers, including melanoma.

Studies show that women who have previously been treated for breast cancer have a 10-30% increased risk of melanoma

Increased Risk Means Increased Safety Measures

Studies show that breast cancer survivors are 10–30% more likely to develop melanoma, and that risk may be even higher for those of us who received radiation therapy.

That means especially in the summer months, sun protection isn’t just skincare, it’s necessary self-care.

So whenever you’re out in the sun lather up, spray on, and cover up. Not out of worry, but out of love for this life we've fought so hard for. 💪☀️💗
