How One Small Step Can Become One Big Spark

Just make a mark and see where it takes you.
— THE DOT, PETER H. REYNOLDS

September 15 is International Dot Day—a celebration of creativity, courage, and connection inspired by the book The Dot.

Vashti sat in art class staring at a blank paper, convinced she couldn’t draw.

Just make a mark and see where it takes you. The Dot, Peter H. Reynolds

But her teacher told her:

“Just make a mark and see where it takes you.”

Vashti drew one dot which led to another, and then many more, until Vashti’s art filled the walls of her school. And her courage inspired another student to try to draw too.

All because one person BELIEVED in her.

I have immense gratitude for all the people that believed in me every time I doubted myself: teachers, coworkers, mentors, survivors, friends, and family.

They gave me courage when I needed it most. 💗

Sometimes all it takes is one small step, and one person’s encouraging words, to spark something amazing.

So go ahead… make your mark. 🖌️
