Pennsylvania: Leading the Fight Against Breast Cancer

My home state of Pennsylvania is doing AMAZING things to lead the way in the fight against breast cancer 🎀🥊

Act 1 of 2023 made PA the first state to eliminate out-of-pocket costs for BRCA-related genetic testing, counseling, and supplemental screenings for high-risk women.

Act 1 of 2023

With nearly 14,000 individuals diagnosed each year, passing Act 1 of 2023 was a major milestone.

The legislation, passed thanks to survivor Senator Kim Ward, made PA the first state to eliminate out-of-pocket costs for BRCA-related genetic testing, counseling, and supplemental screenings for high-risk women.

My personal experience with breast cancer presented me the opportunity to see where some gaps were; this legislature will have a huge positive affect on women’s health and lives.

Breast Cancer Walk with My Support Squad

Last weekend, I participated in a local “Walk Fore The Cure” event to support the PA Breast Cancer Coalition, which has donated over $6 million to breast cancer research across the state.

I’m so proud to see my community and state taking bold steps to save lives and support survivors. 🫶
