Finding Reasons to Dance In the Rain

“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass... It’s about learning to dance in the rain.”

For 4.5 months of chemo, I couldn’t stop wishing for it to be over.

Glimpses of Hope

The countless side effects, losing all my hair, and growing fatigue left me feeling defeated at times.

But on my good days, it was easier to find little reasons to smile.

Those smiles slowly increased with every heartfelt note and meal from my support squad, the special milestones my husband and I celebrated, and the simple moments with our boys like playing outside or snuggling together.

Each of those moments helped me regain hope and focus on something positive, instead of just waiting for time to pass and focusing on the negative.

Even working during those months of chemo, doing a job I love, was a helpful distraction.

Some days the cancer storm felt intense and never-ending, but learning to dance in the rain reminded me that I was one step closer to putting the hardest part behind me.
