What Self-Love Really Looks Like

how you love yourself is how you teach others to love you
— rupi kaur

Valentine’s Day is coming up, so it’s the perfect time to talk about self-love❣️

How you love yourself is how you teach others to love you. -Rupi Kaur

The words and styling of Rupi Kaur’s quote really resonate with me:
how you love yourself is how you teach others to love you

(intentional lowercase; all letters treated the same)

Since my breast cancer diagnosis, I’ve been learning what it really means to prioritize myself and my values. Self-love isn’t optional; it’s powerful and necessary.

It’s giving ourselves grace, accepting where we’re at, and letting the encouragement we offer to others exist for us too—treating ourselves with the same kindness we give everyone else.

Even saying “you got this” to yourself in the mirror can change the entire tone of your day.

The way we speak to ourselves doesn’t stay inside; it shapes how we show up in the world. The love you practice with yourself is the love you carry into everything else. ❤️

What does self-love look like for you right now?
